Yes, WattPath is free. There's no subscription, no paywall, no locked features, and no credit card required. It's built as a free alternative to Zwift and other indoor cycling apps that charge a monthly fee — the goal is a pure training tool that anyone with a smart trainer can use without paying.
WattPath is a free alternative to Zwift for riders who only care about the workout. It doesn't have a virtual world, avatars, in-game leveling, or leaderboards — if those are the reasons you use Zwift, WattPath isn't for you. If you use Zwift mainly for structured workouts, ERG mode, power tracking, and progress, WattPath gives you that same core training loop for free.
WattPath is designed to be a pure workout, training, and stats tool for indoor cycling. It connects to your smart trainer so you can run structured workouts, hit target power zones with ERG mode, and track your progress over time. There's no gamification, no virtual worlds, and no social layer — just your trainer, your workout, and your data.
Yes. WattPath is built to sync your ride data with Strava and the major health platforms — Apple Health, Google Fit, and Samsung Health — so your indoor training sits alongside the rest of your fitness history. If you already use one of these platforms to track workouts, your WattPath rides flow in automatically and you don't have to leave your existing data behind.
Because a lot of riders don't care about any of that. The virtual scenery, avatars, and leaderboards are what drive the cost and complexity of apps like Zwift. WattPath strips all of that away and focuses on the parts that actually affect your fitness: structured workouts, power targets, cadence, heart rate, and progress tracking. No distractions, no fees.
WattPath connects to smart trainers over Bluetooth and ANT+, so it works with the same trainers supported by most mainstream indoor cycling apps — including Wahoo Kickr, Tacx, Elite, Saris, JetBlack, and any FTMS-compatible smart trainer. ERG mode is supported on trainers that expose resistance control.
Yes. WattPath supports ERG mode on compatible smart trainers. When you run a structured workout, WattPath controls your trainer's resistance automatically to hit the prescribed power target — you just focus on cadence and turning the pedals.
WattPath tracks the training metrics that matter: power (watts), cadence, heart rate, speed, distance, and time in zone. After each ride you get a detailed summary, and over time you can see trends in your fitness, personal records across different durations, and how consistent your training has been.
WattPath is currently in development. Stay tuned for launch.
